Despite the Colorado football team having a bye week in week 10, the team still managed to make progress towards achieving their goals of a College Football Playoff bid. Entering the week, the Buffaloes were in fourth place in the standings behind BYU, Iowa State, and Kansas State. With Iowa State suffering a heart breaking 23-22 loss in the final seconds against Texas Tech, and Kansas State blowing a 9 point lead in the fourth quarter against a sub-par Houston team, the Buffs were able to step up in the rankings. Kansas State now has two losses in conference (BYU and Houston) sliding below the Buffaloes, and with Iowa State earning their first loss, they are now tied with Colorado. While there is still much work to be done, the outcomes during this bye week went about as good as possible for Colorado. Next up on their schedule is an away contest versus Texas Tech at 2 P.M. MST on November 9th. If the Buffs are able to defy all odds and win out the rest of the season, they'd finish with a 10-2 record and shouldn't have any trouble finishing atop the conference earning a spot in the Big 12 title game. It would be the first 10 win team since 2010 under coach MacIntyre. Coach Prime has the Buffaloes rolling and their chances of achieving a playoff birth is as good as any of the top teams in the conference.
